Where to stay

There are plenty of options for places to stay in Cardiff Bay and Cardiff city centre. Here are a few examples:

Cardiff Bay

For maximum convenience, these hotels in Cardiff Bay are all within walking distance of the venue.

St David’s Hotel

If you want to roll into bed minutes after the reception, and don’t mind paying a bit more (£350 a night at the time of writing), the St. David’s Hotel is right next to Techniquest.
For 5-star luxury, look no further.

The Coal Exchange Hotel

We also recommend the Coal Exchange Hotel (£160): it’s a beautiful building and a genuine piece of local history, about 5 minutes away on foot.

Holiday Inn Express

If you’re after waterfront views, but with a more modest price-tag, the Holiday Inn Express (£120) overlooking Bute East Dock is a good bet. It’s just under 20-minutes’ walk, or a 4-minute taxi ride from Techniquest.

Premier Inn Bute Place

For a more budget-friendly option, there’s a Premier Inn at Bute Place (£80), about a 10-minute walk or 3-minute taxi ride from the venue.

Cardiff City Centre

If you’re spending the weekend in Cardiff, you might prefer to stay in the City Centre so you’re more conveniently placed for sight-seeing. These options are all roughly 15 minutes away from Techniquest by taxi:

Jury’s Inn

The Jury’s Inn hotel is a grand Victorian building right in the centre of Cardiff. Providing 4-star convenience, it’s at the upper end cost-wise (£150).

Royal Hotel

Just 250 metres from Cardiff Central Station, the Royal Hotel (£180) is another 4-star option. We didn’t know this until we started researching, but it also has a rooftop beehive?!
