We’ve been going to Techniquest since we were very small, and our primary school used to run regular trips there.
It’s very possible that Han’s career in science and engineering was sparked by spending her formative years visiting the place, while Joe’s lifelong obsession with palaeontology meant he never left without picking up something dinosaur-related from the gift shop (he might still pick something up after the ceremony…)
We even dug out a 20-year-old photograph of Han sitting on Joe’s knee in the Techniquest reception – clearly, it was meant to be!
By taking part in this wedding, you’ll also be taking part in history, because this will be the first-ever legal wedding in Techniquest!

As a bonus, Techniquest recently underwent a makeover: with a massive extension adding a whole bunch of new hands-on exhibits (including a hurricane simulator).
We hope you agree that it looks fantastic: combining brains and beauty, as any good wedding venue should!
Please note that the whole event (ceremony and reception) will take place in the same location.
Dress Code:
Above all, we want everyone to be comfortable and get the most out of our awesome venue, so wear something that makes you feel great!
We’re thinking semi-formal – but keep in mind Techniquest has a slide and an earthquake simulator, so you might want to factor that into your sartorial choices.

Techniquest is on Stuart Street, overlooking the Mount Stuart Graving Docks, at the end of Mermaid Quay.

Parking
There are nearby pay-and-display car parks on Stuart Street and Havannah Street, right next to the venue.
If you don’t mind a bit more of a walk, Q-Park operates the Cardiff Bay car park in Pierhead Street, around 8 minutes from Techniquest.

Accessibility
Access at the main entrance to the centre is level and there is easy wheelchair access, including a lift, to all parts of the building as well as a disabled toilet on each floor.
There are also a limited number of wheelchairs available to borrow – just let us know in advance if you need one.
